The Baytown Nature Center is used for both educational and recreational purposes. The Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education and Recreation Center utilizes the nature center as an outdoor classroom for its “Wetlands Ecology” and “Liquid Science” programs for all 5th and 7th grade students in Goose Creek Consolidated School District. Beginning fall 2011 BNC will be the site of a new program, “Back to the Bay,” for high school biology students.
Each month on the first Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 am the Nurture Nature Series brings a different topic to the public for education and enjoyment. The programs are free with regular admission to the nature center.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts regularly take advantage of all the nature center has to offer in order to fulfill requirements for badges, pins and advancements, including Boy Scout Eagle Awards and Girl Scout Gold Awards.
